“Our three recomendations to visit with the family are: The Alcazaba” (arab fort) in Almeria city, The “isleta del Moro” in Cabo de Gata and Ford Bravo Studios in Tabernas”
Alcazaba in Almeria
The gardens of the water of the Kingdom of Dorne are in Almería.
Almeria is Known as the land of film, with its contasting landscapes that have become familiar in world cinema due to more than 50 films being made here. Directors like Steven Spielberg, have chosen La Alcazaba as a backdrop for the famous Indiana Jones series. Well then, it won’t come as a surprise that in 2017 the backdrop of Alcazaba has been chosen to film some episodes of the series of Game of Thrones. You may be able to spot the kingdom of Dorne from the photo. We didn’t find any sand snakes on our visit, but we remembered the fight in the water gardens.

The second largest muslim fortress in Spain is the Alcazaba in Almeria.
It has three distinct parts, the first two were constructed by the muslims settlers and the third was constructed by the Catholic Kings. This magnificient construction is an open history book, for this reason we recomended that you contract a guide, especially if you are travelling with youngsters.
The information the guides explain is a good enjoyable way for younger members of the family to learn without any effort. We have put a link to the Tourism Office of Almeria, if you want to organise a guided visit. In our opinion it’s worth it.
La Isleta del Moro in Cabo de Gata
One word to define this fishing village: spectacular, it is the idyllic image of a place where you can forget about when your troubles occurs and let your imagination run wild.

We had a relatively short time, but we loved the island with its two rocky protusions raring their heads from the sea antd its beautiful Palm Groves. The houses are white and the colourful boats provide a nice contrast and there are enough bars to enjoy a variety of fresh fish (fried, battered and baked) whist admiring the landscape. In spring time its relaxed and tranquil and in summer, although more crowded, it’s an ideal place to dive around the rocks. In fact, there has been a diving school here since 2003.
La Isleta del Moro is situated in the Natural Park of Cabo de Gata and Níjar, it is a unique natural park in Spain, which has 50 Km of wild coastal cliffs, spectacular views and beaches that are absolute paradise, it was declared a biosphere reserve by UNESCO in 1997. The Natural Park really deserves a longer visit to enjoy it fully. There are a few well-known beaches here, such the Genoveses or Monsul in San Jose Los Muertos in Carboneras.

On this trip we stayed in Cabo de Gata town and in la Isleta del Moro, but we come back to dive in the turquoise waters with its wonderful marine and posidonia (the olive of the sea).
Fort Bravo Studios
The third of our featured sites, provided that you go with children, is Fort Bravo Studios. If you are not going with children, in our opinion it is more interesting to visit the desert of Tabernas, wich is considerd to be the only recognised desert in all of Europe.
The ticket is relatively expensive as for five people it cost us 80.5€ and the food cost was extra, and there was a limited choice, however our youngest son (Miguel) enjoyed watching the live show by specialists: Cowboys, horses and shooting, the return carriage, etc… the dream of a lot of children aged five. There is something here to please everyone.

The light is spectacular in the desert of Tabernas, there are three villages offering western live show, horseback riding, show of cabaret, etc… These are: Fort Bravo and Western leone and Oasys Mini Hollywood.
We chose Fort Bravo because we were told that it was the first, others have better facilities with their original scenes from the sixties when Sergio Leone discovered Taverns And they began the filming of the cinema of the west. We have put a link to the official page from where you can buy the tickets to Fort Bravo.
